Mar 13, Marta Catarino rated it really liked it. A most entertaining mixture of historic novel, comedy and detective story where the characters, a carpenter in Nazareth accused of murder and the detective his son Jesus hires to prove his innocence are all too familiar.

A great and colourful way to pass a couple of hours. For me, this book was very interesting, and at the moments funny, and Mr. Mendoza showed me that a crime novel can be both, misterious and entertaining at the same time. Very good! I abandoned. Read it in a day out loud for my friends. It was entertaining enough. Mar 04, Vibor rated it it was amazing.

Very Roman in its style, since the story is told from the point of view of its Roman protagonist. As a Roman archaeologist, I was tickled by some of the inside jokes. Wonderful and entertaining read! If you liked Christopher Moore's Lamb, you'll like this book too. Aug 04, Alberto rated it it was amazing. One of the funniest novels I have read and I would say that it is the best book of Eduardo Mendoza.

As he always does, this is a crime novel which describes hilarious situations that Pomponio goes through or to be more precise, he is gets involved into them by other characters in the book. A short book, fun packed really enjoyable. I do recommend spending three days reading this book. Aug 09, Charlie Durell rated it it was ok. Quite a funny book in parts. I felt the ending was a bit flat but otherwise a good reading to polish my Spanish. Oct 02, Blanca rated it it was ok Shelves: lan-sp , humor , ebook , I'm still not sure of what I've read although I'm leaning towards whodunnit-AU Bible fic as an accurate classification.

At least the mystery was somewhat interesting. Two and a half stars, rounded to two. Jun 28, Vera rated it really liked it. I loved it! Such a sweet story! Reminded me of Voltaire's Candide. Jul 29, Belen Vilaplana rated it it was ok. A wonderful adventurous comedy in a form of a letter from Pomponio Flato and a brilliant piece of historical fiction.
