Verified Purchase. But I was prepared for that before ordering the book as i knew this is a business book. The font size is perfect. Nothing spoils a reading experience like a tiny font size. I am just a regular educated man and bought the book mainly because I wanted to know how Kishore Biyani thinks and how these successful business people think.
This book is written like none I have read so far. It is a mix of paragraphs written or as spoken by different people. For instances, Kishore biyani writes a paragraph, followed by a paragraph by another person like his business associate or his wife.
Then there is another paragraph by Kishore Biyani, and the following paragraph is by his business associate or a former employee, and so on. Deep insights. One can learn how to do business. But too old. So much has happened since the book released it's like watching the first half of his book but then it's a story of his entrepreneurship, how he became rich not how we became richER.
One person found this helpful. Biyani seems much like India's Sam Walton, not because he built a fortune in retailing but because they had a very similar thinking process. Both emphasized on comsumer first policy and have led innovation in retailing. Its really an intersting book. So we can hope an updated version of this book in future.
Well it's something that actually can change everything!! It's not just a book as I can say it's more like a road. I hope We'll get another chance to read this book in updated version after About his struggles and how he tackled them. Good to know more about the garment and retail industry. Great lessons on how Kishore Biyani successfully ushered in the retail revolution in India with strong visioning, clear and audacious thinking and thoroughly pragmatic approach.

Summary of “It Happened in India”
It Happened In India is the story of Kishore Biyani and the Big Bazaar phenomenon, the story of a businessman who refused to fit into the traditional confines of his family business and ended up creating a successful retail chain. Growing up in a joint family, Kishore Biyani was expected to eventually follow his father and uncles and join their textile mill business. However, Kishore Biyani was always a bit different, even while young. He wanted to try something different. He classifies entrepreneurs into three classes, creators, preservers and destroyers. His family belonged to the preserver category, while he wanted to be a creator.

The author Kishore Biyani is the owner of multiple brands and companies. The names that stand out are Central mall, Big Bazaar, Pantaloons. Although his success in the retail industry is pretty commendable, to me he comes across a big dictator. Its one thing to run the business from ground up but its completely different when the execution involves him in every aspect.
